“STORKS” Movie is Playing in Theaters Everywhere! (My No Spoiler Review)

A few months back, we were sitting in a theater, watching previews before the feature film. The trailer for STORKS came on, which I saw was an animated film, assuming it was kid-friendly. storks-newposterNot soon after the preview started to play, I began to worry it would suddenly trigger some questions about babies that I wasn’t ready to answer. I mean, everyone knows what storks traditionally bring but I just wasn’t ready to talk about the topic of “babies”, right then and there! Well, I’m happy to report that it didn’t trigger any unwanted questions from my child. The STORKS preview was so adorable that I couldn’t wait to see the whole movie! STORKS-1Fast forward. I was elated to receive a special invitation for my family and I to attend an advanced screening and “Blue Carpet” event for STORKS on the Warner Bros. lot. My daughter was so excited to go, she could hardly sleep the night before!warner-bros-lot-towerIt’s always exciting to pass the lot when you’re driving in the area, but going inside those gates is way more fun! (Have you ever done a tour of the lot?)storks-movie-family-screeningAs we proceeded to walk around, we saw some of the characters from the film on movie posters. You’re going to love Tulip, you’re going to love The Gardners, and you’re probably going to fall head over hills with The Baby! and ALL the babies!storks-screening-meet-the-babystorks-screening-blue-carpetstorks-movie-meet-tulipInside the theater, I think there were more kids than adults, anxiously awaiting for it to start. If you’re wondering about whether or not you can take your young kids to see it, I’d say yes. storks-movie-screening-theaterThere were so many toddlers in the audience with us, and not only were they engaged in the story the entire time, I heard no crying. I don’t believe in spoilers, but as a mom, I would say that this film is “safe” to take kids of all ages to see. (other than your newborn, who isn’t going to be interested in anything for that long).storks-movie-inside-the-theaterHere’s a little bit about the STORKS movie:
Storks deliver babies…or at least they used to. Now they deliver packages for global internet giant Cornerstore. Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorized baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first-ever baby drop – in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world.

She is so beautiful and kind and as a teacher, I love that Belle has such a love for reading! She is absolutely breathtaking in her gown and every time we wave to her in the Disney parade, we can’t help but grin from ear to ear.belle-in-the-paradeIn honor of the release of this Disney classic’s 25th anniversary, we made a super cute no-sew Belle hair bow. It was very easy to put make.no-sew-belle-hair-bowdiy-belle-bow-suppliesHere’s what you’ll need to make your own “Belle Hair Bow”:

  • One big yellow bow (ours had a rubber band already attached to it.)
  • Tulle “rounds” (I used white tulle rounds that had a touch of gold glitter)
  • Red ribbon roses
  • A hot glue gun
  • Scissors

To make your bow:

  1. Take one of the tulle rounds and roll up.diy-belle-blow-roll-the-tulle
  2. Use the glue gun to fasten rolled tulle round to the yellow bow in the center. diy-belle-bow-glue-the-tulle
  3. Snip the ends of the round to shorten. diy-belle-bow-snip-off-the-ends
  4. Use parts that you snipped off to tie around the middle of the tulle “bow”, to cover up the hot glue spots, tying in the back of the yellow bow.diy-belle-bow-tie-in-backdiy-belle-bow-tie-around-to-cover-the-glue
  5. Add the red ribbon roses to the center, using the hot glue gun. “Traditionally”, Belle has just one rose, but we liked adding a few. diy-belle-bow-finishedHow cute did our “Belle” bow turn out?

From the over-exuberant parrot Mak to the snack-obsessed tapir Rosie, from the persnickety echidna Epi to the acrobatic pangolin Pango, from the ditzy goat Scrubby to the commonsensical kingfisher Kiki and the always-cool chameleon, things are larger-than-life on a tropical isle that is pure wild animal paradise.the-wild-life-robinson-crusoe Then Robinson Crusoe, a marooned human, arrives in the midst of a furious storm, and their lives are forever changed by this bewildering new “creature.” No matter their differences, castaway human and quirky animals embark on an hilarious new adventure, building the island’s first tree-house and surviving together. the-wild-life-animalsBut when two conniving members of the animal kingdom — the savage cats Mal & May – pounce into a battle for control of the island, Crusoe and his animal posse must uncover the true power of friendship against all odds (even savage cats). the-wild-life-animals-2So who are you going to go see The Wild Life with? Giveaway-time

My Thoughts about Pete’s Dragon + FREE Printable Coloring Pages

I don’t even know where to start with Pete’s Dragon! I was so fortunate to attend an advanced screening of the film and it was absolutely beautiful! I swear I’m not just saying that because it stars Robert Redford either, although I wish my grandmother was still here to see him in it!

You may (or may not) remember the original “Pete’s Dragon” back in 1977, which was a Disney original, live-action animated musical film. This Pete’s Dragon is more of a reboot of the origina than a remake and gives the story line a different twist
Have you watched the official trailer yet?

Pete’s Dragon is the tale of a small town where Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) resides and tells his tales to the town’s children, about the dragon that lives deep in the woods.Petes-Dragon-Robert-Redford His adult daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), also lives in the town and works as a forest ranger in the woods. She fails to believe any of her father’s stories are true, as she has never encountered anything such as a dragon in the woods. Petes-Dragon-GraceEverything Grace believed in changed the day she met Pete, a 10 year-old boy, who seemed to be living in the woods and have no family or real “home”.

Oakes Fegley is Pete in Disney's PETE'S DRAGON, the story of a boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot, who just happens to be a dragon. After Pete finally opens up to Grace, he talks to her about his giant dragon “Elliot”, who he lives with in the woods. The rest of the film, you’ll have to see for yourself! I don’t believe in posting spoilers for others. Petes-Dragon-Elliot“Pete’s Dragon” is such an exciting and magical journey and will pull on your heartstrings…a lot! I absolutely fell in love with each of the main characters, especially with Elliot!petes-dragon-1It was so special to be able to see this film with my own daughter and share one of the stories from my own childhood with her in a more modern version. The film is rated PG but I’d recommend it for most children. The only thing that might be a little scary would be the dragon, Elliot. Normally, I just tell my daughter that something in a movie isn’t real, in hopes that she won’t be scared. However, I wouldn’t say that about this dragon. Remember…”Just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it’s not there!”just-because-you-cant-see-somethingWatch this hilarious clip of Bryce talking about what it’s like to work with Elliot the dragon on set:

5 Reasons Why YOU Need to Go See Ghostbusters (No Spoilers!)

This past week has been amazing for me from attending an advanced screening of Ghostbusters to touring Ghost Corps with Ivan Reitman on the Sony Pictures Lot to attending the Ghostbusters press conference at The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. ghost-corps-photo-oppGhostbusters has finally opened in theaters nationwide and I’m here to share my thoughts and opinions with you about the film. I won’t post spoilers but I will give you 5 reasons why you should go see it.

It’s a reboot, NOT a remake!
No matter what your prior experience with Ghostbusters is (I grew up loving the original), this is not supposed to be a remake. It is a reboot. There’s a huge difference. The film is this generation’s Ghostbusters! Why wouldn’t you want to see it? I go to the theater for entertainment and as way to escape the real world. The film has a story that many of us may already know, but also has more of a modern-day story line. The special effects are amazing (the ghosts are definitely scary) and I am a big fan of 3-D movies. I was laughing almost the entire time. As someone who was a huge fan of the original, my 80’s Ghostbusters heart was happy to see cameos by some of the originals. IMG_3614 (1)It’s (Somewhat) Kid Friendly
Let me just clarify, when I say it’s somewhat kid friendly, I’m referring to kids that are on the older side. It’s rated PG-13 so it’s not appropriate for children of all ages, but I did take my 10 year old with me to see it and she loved it! I was honestly worried that she’d be scared because of the ghosts but when I asked her about it afterwards, none of those were anything she mentioned as bothering her.  I then thought she might be scared that night at bedtime or wake up the next morning and tell me she’d had nightmares, but she didn’t. Instead, she woke up and asked if we could go and see it again? Heck yeah we can! There’s definitely “language” in the movie but I was grateful not to worry about nudity. Having the opportunity to share this film with my daughter was exciting for me. It’s her generation’s Ghostbusters! ghost-corps-screening-night-beforeCause Chris Hemsworth
So I already said I wouldn’t post spoilers but you’re going to love Chris Hemsworth in this movie! Obviously many fans adore him for obvious reasons but he’s hilarious in this film. After attending the press conference with the leading cast, Melissa McCarthy and the other ladies pretty much confirmed that after working with him on set, they’re convinced there isn’t anything Chris can’t do. He acts, he sings, he dances, and he’s nice? Wow! Seems a little unfair to any male out there. Anyway, my reason #3 for why you should go see Ghostbusters: Cause Chris Hemsworth!  I highly suggest you stay all the way through the credits for a little extra fun with Chris.ghost-corps-cast-magazinesThe All-Female Lead Cast
I’m astonished that there are people making negative comments about this film just because there’s an all-female leading cast! Seriously? These women are amazing! Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McCannon, are some of the most hilarious female actors in the business right now. They’re women that girls (and boys) can look up to, especially as part of Ghostbusters! Isn’t that what we want for our youth? The majority of films portray most superheros as males but here is a film that features women too! I adore and admire each of these women and even more after sitting in on the press conference they did for the film.

Los Angeles, Ca-- July 8,2016: Bloggers attend a Press Conference at the Press Junket for Columbia Pictures' GHOSTBUSTERS at the Four Seasons Hotel.

All The Things Ghostbusters
So, back to the film.  People want to know if they should see it? Yep! Others have asked how it compares to the original. In my opinion, should it have to compare to the original? I loved the original.  I will also say that my experiences with 80’s movies is that they can be quite outdated when you re-watch them years later. This new Ghostbusters was so much fun to watch, especially watching the ladies take on the ghosts to show them who’s boss! You will love the location of the film, you’ll love the ghosts, you’ll love the storyline, you’ll just love all the things Ghostbusters! ghostbusters-bitmoji-who-ya-gonna-call

So…“Who YOU gonna call?” Are you headed to the theater to see Ghostbusters? If so, come back and leave me a comment with some of your thoughts about it! Thanks for reading!
